What does the quote include and not include?

Unless otherwise stated, the quote will include, in most cases, the price of the yacht rental, full insurance and taxes. It does not include the following: - Sheets, towels, final cleaning... which must be paid for separately at the station - Fuel - Cancellation deductible - Water toys such as SUP, kayak, etc. - Ancillary services such as skipper, cook, steward/stewardess which must be paid for separately

What is the Deposit?

All charter companies rent their ships with full and comprehensive insurance, but like your car insurance, the insurance here also has a deductible. The deposit is an amount equal to the deductible that the charter company keeps for itself in case the ship is damaged and it joins in activating the insurance or repairing small things that do not exceed the deductible amount. You will not be charged for this amount and when you return the ship intact, the deposit will be returned to your account. It is of course possible to take out deductible cancellation insurance at a low cost and save yourself the inconvenience.If you rent a yacht with a skipper, the deposit will be very low or non-existent.

What is deductible cancellation insurance?

Like your car insurance, yacht insurance also has a deductible, which rental companies call a deposit. There are several insurance companies that sell insurance to cancel the deductible at a fairly low cost relative to the rental price, providing you with peace of mind. The price of such insurance is a percentage of the value of the boat. For example: insurance to cancel the deductible for a 2020 Lagoon 42 boat for a $3,000 deposit can cost $270-300. What time do you receive the yacht on Saturday?

Usually, the rental companies guarantee that you will receive the designated boat by 5:00 PM, the reason for this is that all boats are returned on Saturday morning and must be cleaned and any faults with them taken care of or scheduled maintenance performed so that you receive them clean and in good condition. But most people receive the boat they booked between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM unless you are lucky and the boat you booked was not chartered the previous week. There are companies that guarantee early receipt of the boat for an additional fee.

What are the cancellation conditions after I have already made a reservation?

Cancellation policies vary slightly from company to company and depend on the sailing season and the time the booking is actually made. In most places, you can hold an “option” for a few days without obligation before the final booking—then the cancellation will be without penalty. Typically, the charter company will charge a deposit of 30%–50% of the booking cost at the time of booking and the balance 30–60 days before departure.Common cancellation schedules: 60+ days before departure: typical penalty ≈ 30% of rental priceBetween ~35–60 days: fine ≈ 50%Less than 30–45 days: No refund.
